Jesus’ Parade

As Jesus and the disciples approached Jerusalem, Jesus sent
two of them on ahead.  “Go into the
village over there,” He said. “As soon as you enter it, you will see a donkey
tied there, with its colt beside it. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone
asks what you are doing, just say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will
immediately let you take them.”  The two
disciples did as Jesus commanded. They brought the donkey and the colt to Him
and threw their garments over the colt, and He sat on it.
Matthew 21:1-3,6-7 (NLT)

What was Jesus feeling on Palm
Sunday?

This was His parade. The people praised
Him as the Messiah and begged for deliverance. (Today disciples would
distribute bumper stickers and lawn signs) For the first time Jesus allowed
their worship, telling the Pharisees that if the crowd was quiet, the stones
would cheer.

Was Jesus smiling and waving?

Jesus knew the religious leaders
felt threatened by His ideas and popularity. He knew the crowd expected a military/political
king who would end their oppression. He knew they didn’t recognize the Messiah
they worshiped.  He knew what He faced in
the coming days.

Jesus wept saying “if you had only
recognized this day, and everything that was good for you! But now it’s too
late.”

When we ask God to show us the way, should
we instead be asking for better eyes to see the Truth already in plain sight?
When we ask God to speak, should we instead ask for better ears to hear His
voice?
