Your Story

We proclaim to you what we ourselves have actually seen and
heard, so that you may have fellowship with us…. We are writing these things so
that you may fully share our joy.
1 John: 1:3-4 (NLT)

Have you ever experienced something
so incredible you couldn’t wait to tell someone?

Didn’t it feel good to share your excitement?

That’s what the Apostle John is
talking about in today’s scripture. He was one of Jesus’ closest friends, witnessed
miracles before and after the crucifixion, and knew God was alive and directing
his life. He couldn’t contain himself.

The original disciples changed
dramatically after seeing the resurrected Jesus and receiving the Holy Spirit.
Remembering Jesus’ words and fulfilled prophesy, they connected the dots to
discover the Truth; Jesus was the Messiah, the Son of God.

These once frightened men couldn’t
contain themselves. They needed to share their personal stories so that others
might believe. Retelling their experiences fed their enthusiasm.

How did you become a believer? Do you
remember a time when God worked in your life? Did He rescue you from harm or
pain? Give you a second chance? Teach a lesson? Lead you to a person or job you
otherwise wouldn’t have found?

I know you’re scared, afraid of the
reaction you’ll face. Will people roll their eyes and think I’m nuts? Push
aside your fear and tell your story. Use the ‘G’ word and give God the credit
and glory. Who can disagree? You’re not relating doctrine or scripture, but
telling a personal experience that impacted your life.

Practice first with your spouse or a
trusted friend who might even reciprocate with their own story. The
conversation will certainly give your relationship new depth.

Will you share a story about God
today?

I have to add that I wrote and posted this just before heading out to church. Was it a coincidence or God-incidence that the sermon was about the same topic – giving God credit, being brave to speak the words, not being concerned with looking foolish……
So either I have a story God wants me to tell, or the message is for the broader audience – blog readers and congregation. So be excited when God works in your life. Take time to notice and give Him thanks. Then tell someone! AMEN!

amen To God be the Glory. We are saved to do just that. Thank you for the reminder. I look for opportunities to tell people about my Abba Father who rescued me from the dominion of darkness He changed this self loathing selfish person into one who's heart is after Him.
