Matthew13:45-46 (NLT)
This might be the shortest parable in the Bible – just two sentences!
The note in my study Bible interprets the story as meaning that “the kingdom is of such great value that one should be willing to give up all he has in order to gain it.” The parable is most often interpreted that we are the merchants and God is the priceless pearl.
However, perhaps Jesus is teaching a different lesson. What if God is the merchant and we are the pearls? After all, the parable begins “the Kingdom is like a merchant”. What’s the implication of this alternative lesson? Can you fathom it?
You are the fine gem God is seeking! He gives everything in order to claim you as His own! (tweet it)
Jesus is describing His own sacrifice. He left heaven to take the form of a human, experience our condition, and die to bring us into His presence forever. He gave His life to buy our freedom.
Do you see yourself so highly valued by the God of the universe?

Great way to look at it, Cathy. I pray you had a great time of study and fellowship with Abba.
I sure did! Read two books by powerhouse Christine Caine, finished a study about the Names of God, and started another on the book of Ruth. I also read a book about serving the poor (Subversive Jesus), and the other about preparing the 'soil' for transformation (Groundwork). Sooooo productive. I also hiked every day.
