What is Truth?

Jesus responded…“Actually, I was born and came into the world to testify to the truth. All who love the truth recognize that what I say
is true.”
“What is truth?” Pilate asked.
John 18:37-38 (NLT)

What is truth?

God has been challenging me since March to re-examine my beliefs.

God began with a Lenten sermon about Jesus’ exchange with Pilate during His trial. Pilate couldn’t please everyone. He found no basis for crucifixion but hadn’t the fortitude to stand against the
Jewish leaders. He gave up (or gave in) and threw His hands in the air. What is truth?

Does truth matter? Is there absolute truth?

God continued to push me.

I received devotions about cherry picking scriptures to follow and others to ignore. I had Biblically based conversations about cultural acceptances and discussions about whether the Bible is literally
God’s Word or open to interpretation. When the news reported about murdered Christians, I wondered if I’d stand firm under persecution.

I’ve been following an online study about 1 & 2 Peter; he warns readers to protect the Truth and be wary of false teachers. Yesterday, I drove past a billboard advertising a Christian radio station. For some reason I tuned in. The host was explaining how to identify a false teacher – another God-incidence.

Why is God repeating this message?
Have I gone soft?
Has the sand shifted under my feet so I’ve lost sight of Truth?

While contemplating God’s challenge, I’ve been unable to blog. Who am I to instruct others without firm beliefs?

After yesterday’s radio program, I kept thinking about Pilate’s question: “What is Truth?” I wasn’t surprised to find the answer in scripture: Jesus speaks the Truth.

So let’s look at what Jesus says and discover Truth together.

Please join the conversation. Is Truth found in Jesus? Is all scripture True? On what do you stand firm and what is open to interpretation?

You are not alone my friend. My "truth" has been shaken by others "truth". As believers we tend to disagree on some of the secondary issues of Scripture. ie baptism, speaking in tongues and others. One false teaching out there shook me to the core "Everyone is going to heaven" The teacher had bible verses to back it up. Although we know it is not true I had to go to the real TRUTH Jesus and the Word.(in its entirety) Jesus said I am the Way the Truth and the Life. Thank you for getting us to think about what matters TRUTH
