What’s wrong with me?
I’ve ‘eaten’ the bread of life. I believe in Jesus with my whole heart. And yet spiritually, I sometimes still hunger and thirst. What am I missing?
This verse is perfect, because lately I’ve been hungry all the time! Like surfing the internet, I look around my kitchen for something to satisfy my craving. But nothing does. My trainer says my body is craving protein and hence, losing muscle mass.
Ah-ha! That’s what happens with spiritual hunger.
Our empty, disconnected feeling persists when Jesus and His Word aren’t part of the daily diet. One taste of the Bread of Life doesn’t last a lifetime. To remain satisfied and build strong faith, our
souls need to continually feast on His Word and spend time with Him at the table. Jesus is all we need. When we stay with Him, we’ll never be hungry or need any other spiritual food. It doesn’t mean we can stop eating.
