Living Water

John
7:37-38 (NLT) On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and
shouted to the crowds, “Anyone who is thirsty may come to me! Anyone who
believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, ‘Rivers of
living water will flow from his heart.’”

Imagine your home without plumbing.

Take note of your water usage today.  Each time you turn on a faucet, consider
instead, gathering water from your rain barrel.
Cooking and drinking. Washing hands, clothes, and dishes.  Cleaning your teeth, hair, and home.  Caring for pets, plants and the lawn.  Just imagine.

How would you survive the dry season with an empty rain barrel?

Water is life.  When
the river is far away, families in rural Cambodia must pay to refill the barrel
– money that might otherwise be used for food, medicine or school fees.  If an unexpected expense arises a child might
be sold as a ‘housekeeper’ or a teenager might migrate to the city for work,
leaving these children alone and vulnerable.

A water pump can keep these families together thereby preventing
human trafficking.

Through Jesus’ hands and feet on this earth, ‘rivers of
living water’ flow in transformed African villages due to clean water campaigns.  World Hope International hopes to bring this
life-changing resource to 5 villages in Cambodia.

It runs deeper than a pump.
WHI’s Adelphe program forms community cooperatives that launch an income
producing venture.  Adelphe staff support
the group with business and money management training and ongoing Christian relationship.  Co-op members motivate and support each
other.

The water pump is the first step in lifting these families
out of poverty.  This goodwill measure
immediately improves their condition and opens the door for a trusting long term
relationship.

I hope to collect $1400 for one water pump by March 21st,
the first day of spring.  I already have
$250 toward this goal.  If you’d like to
help, please send me a check (made out to World Hope) or donate onlineBe
sure to write Adelphe Water Pump
in the comment portion of your donation.  Thank you!

Like a productive garden, a rich
relationship should be tended regularly.

thank you for the reminder that water is so very precious. I try to tell my son that when he leaves the faucet on. Praying that you make your goal

It's just that we take it for granted when others don't have the luxury of water on demand. Yes we should conserve. But how 'bout if we prayed for those who don't have water every time we use some ourselves. We'd be praying a lot!
