Do you find Scripture dry and
boring? You’re not alone. I remember those days and some of the books
are still pretty hard to get into.

probably just reading with your head.

The Bible is full of emotion, so try reading with your heart. Try entering the story as a character. Imagine the excitement and joy or the shock
and outrage of the first readers. Apply
the instructions to your life and let yourself react emotionally. Sometimes this takes reading more than one

It really helps to imagine yourself as a character in the situation being described. What kind of trust would it take for Abraham to leave Mesopotamia for an unknown destination? What would Mary and Joseph have felt in their predicament? It certainly makes it come alive and makes the characters real people. Thanks for reading and commenting. Funny, one thing that I would never describe the bible, new or old testament, is dry and boring. It would never have endured were it dry and boring. It endures precisely because it is so full of life and emotion and challenges us at every emotion. Thanks for sharing! Jina
As a kid reading the King James Version, I definitely couldn't get involved in the stories. Perhaps I wasn't taught how to read properly. We memorized. With better translations and Bible study skills I have discovered a living breathing text as it was intended. I'm not sure everyone agrees with us though. Thanks for reading and commenting.
