He Is Alive!

1
Corinthians 15:12-20 (MSG)
Now,
let me ask you something profound yet troubling…  If there’s no resurrection, there’s no living
Christ.  And face it – if there’s no
resurrection for Christ, everything we’ve told you is smoke and mirrors, and
everything you’ve staked your life on is smoke and mirrors.

Let
me pose a tough, but critical, question this morning.  Please dig deep in your heart, not for what
tradition celebrates every Easter, not for what your mind knows the Scriptures
say, but for what you believe in your soul with certainty.

Do
you believe in the bodily resurrection:  Jesus’
body, not just His Spirit, alive again, physically visible, eating food, being
touched?

Is
your answer ‘No’, or ‘I’m not sure’?  Do
you say ‘I don’t know exactly what happened to Jesus’ body, but bodily
resurrection is impossible’?  Please consider
this.  If the resurrection was some smoke
and mirrors trick, then you are left with a tragic story.  Jesus was a popular leader who taught some
important lessons, but he died.  All his
promises and his claim to be the Son of God amount to nothing – empty words,
smoke and mirrors – because he was killed and did not rise as predicted.  Wait a minute.  Pause and think about that.

However,
if you believe God raised Jesus from the dead, then all Jesus promises and
teaching gain credibility.  He is
alive!  It is True!
