Get Rid Of It!

James 1:21 (NLT) – So get rid of all the moral filth and
evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts,
for it has the power to save your souls.
evil in your lives, and humbly accept the word God has planted in your hearts,
for it has the power to save your souls.
While it’s possible to read God’s
Word strictly on an intellectual level, we won’t understand much of it until we
put it into practice. The Bible outlines
the way of life that leads to fullness, peace and joy. Wholeness.
I’m proud of you for joining me every day to plant a seed of scripture
in your heart. Let’s allow those seeds
to form roots and sprout by applying them to our lives.

You may not like today’s scripture or
think it applies to you. At first
glance, I certainly didn’t! Filth and
evil are harsh words. I’ve been there
and done that, but I live a pretty clean life now. Don’t I?

I looked back in James a few verses
to see he’s been talking about anger.
Well now, that’s a different story.
If anger falls into the ‘moral filth and evil’ category, then so do many
other human tendencies like bitterness, unforgiveness, envy, greed, and
lust. These sins (yes, sins) prevent us
from experiencing wholeness. Get rid of
them!

So I challenge you today. Go beyond your initial instinct to dismiss
the verse. Read it again. What comes to mind? What action should you take? Will you?
Pray for God’s help.

I try not to use the word Hate about things. Yes people, bands, jobs, films, books, life does make me angry sometimes, but I don't think I actually generally hate anything.
Good approach Nick. Yes, we casually throw the word hate around. It's a lazy way of expressing ourselves – like profanity or OMG. Easy and not very meaningful.
Thanks for taking the time to read and comment. – Cathy
This blog is a breath of fresh air! Thank you Cathy, for bringing that verse to my heart and mind today! Blessings on your day!
What kind words, Amy. Thank you. God has called me to help others grow deeper in Him. Glad you found it helpful! Spread the word to anyone who you feel might like a Seed of Scripture every day. – Cathy
