Eyes Wide Open

Psalm 119:18 (NLT) Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths
in your instructions.

When prayed sincerely, God will answer
this prayer.

Write these words on an index card
you keep with your Bible and pray them earnestly:  Open my eyes to see the wonderful truths in
your instructions.

If you read your Bible with a heart
truly open to receive God’s Word and ask Him for enlightenment, God will reveal
deeper meaning.  We sometimes fail to see
its truth when we bring along our cynicism, skepticism and ego.  It’s likely we won’t feel enlightened if Bible reading is
a chore.

I encourage you to humbly ask God to open
your eyes every time you read scripture.
Read as though the words contain great knowledge.  Don’t gloss over familiar verses but look for
fresh insight.  Expect God to bring to
your mind people or situations to which the message applies.  Approach the scripture with a heart eager to
obey His instruction.

Each post is a brief scriptural thought that will grow as you let it take root in your thoughts. If you have time, dig into one area of interest and plant a whole garden.
