Which Way Should We Go?

Show me the right path, O Lord; Point
out the road for me to follow.
Psalm 25:4 (NLT)

Do you always follow the directions your GPS provides? Do you sometimes know a better route and decide to ignore its instruction? I don’t know about you, but I know lots of back roads and shortcuts, so I often go my own way.

Wouldn’t it be nice if God’s guidance was clear and specific like a GPS?

Following God would be so much easier because we’d know the right path! The route to a God-honoring life would be mapped out step by step.

Of course we’d still need to choose to follow God’s directions. I suspect that sometimes we’d know a better, quicker path or we’d choose to avoid an unsafe neighborhood the God-GPS took us through.

Guess what! The God-GPS is the Holy Spirit living inside of us. The Bible maps out the way to a Kingdom life and the Spirit helps us understand it and brings it to mind when needed. If you package the Spirit and the Bible together, it’s a GPS programmed to bring us to God.

We already have the map. The tricky thing is choosing to follow when God leads us to help the poor, persisting on the difficult road instead of veering off to a smoother one, and trusting God knows best when He takes us into unfamiliar territory and we can’t see around the next curve.

God shows us the right path. Will we follow? (tweet it)

Cathy, Love the analogy. God is good to give us His word and the counsel of the Holy Spirit. Have a blessed day.
