Craftsmanship

The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display His
craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night they
make Him known.
Psalm 19:1-2 (NLT)

This time of year, I spend a lot of time
outside. Even when I’m stuck inside, I find myself looking out the window,
mesmerized by the beauty of our world. I enjoy the colors of the garden. I’m
amused as birds flit and chipmunks scurry around trees and chuckle at my excited
kitties watching from the window. I love standing at the open garage door
listening to a downpour, watching the light show, and counting out the thunder.

The Psalmist says all of nature proclaims
God’s glory and displays God’s craftsmanship. All around us are hints about God’s
creativity and attention to detail. A craftsman starts with an idea and forms a
plan. He uses skill and patience to carry it out, sometimes redesigning a piece
or starting over.

He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything
in them.
(Psalm 146:6)

When you’re outside this summer (or
inside, looking out), ponder the character of God on display through everything
in the sky, earth and sea.

What do you learn?

Amen. I love looking at all the detail. God is a God of detail
