a friend? I don’t mean straightening out
which day school gets out or suggesting a different outfit. Solomon said two people are better off than
one, because they can help each other succeed. (Ecclesiastes 4:9) I think we’re pretty good at being positive
and encouraging, but when have you addressed a serious behavior taking your
friend down the wrong path?

Not often, I suspect. It’s politically incorrect. You might appear judgmental rather than
helpful. It feels confrontational. It’s easier to let the friendship fade. But as Christians, we’re instructed to guide
them back onto the right path. It’s our
responsibility.

The key words are gently and
humbly. None of us is perfect or better,
so approaching the conversation with a humble, gentle spirit is essential. We are all on this journey together. If your friend tripped while you were walking
together, you’d naturally reach out your hand to help her up? So why not help her back on the path toward
God too?
