Knock, Knock

Revelation
3:20
(NLT) – Look!  I stand at the
door and knock.  If you hear my voice and
open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal together as friends.

Read
today’s verse as though Jesus is speaking to you.  Imagine the scene with me.

What
does the door look like?  Is it nicely
decorated and well used or is the paint peeling and the doorframe vine covered?  Who and what is on the other side?

Can
you hear the knocking?  Is it gentle or
urgent?  What thoughts and feelings come
to the surface at the prospect of Jesus’ visit?

Will you open the door or pretend
you’re not home? (click to tweet)

Jesus
will never force himself into your life.
He always waits to be welcomed inside with both patience and
persistence.  When and how often will you
share a meal with this special Friend?

Do
you dare read a few verses before and after today’s
scripture
?  There’s a harsh warning
about being lukewarm Christians.
