verses instruct us that the first step toward true wisdom is respecting and
honoring the Lord. Each verse adds a
little extra. To forsake evil is real
understanding (Job
28:28). All who obey His commands
will grow in wisdom (Psalm
111:10). Fools despise wisdom and
discipline (Proverbs
1:7). Don’t be impressed with your
own wisdom (Proverbs
3:7). Knowledge of the Holy One results
in good judgment (Proverbs
9:10). Humility precedes honor (Proverbs
15:33).
